Music

Intent

We provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music, to develop the skills to appreciate a wide variety of musical forms, and to begin to make judgements about the quality of music.

At New Leake Primary School, we want children to feel they are musical and develop a life-long love of music.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” – Plato

Kapow Music Curriculum

The Kapow Music Curriculum introduces children to music from all around the world and across generations, teaching children to respect and appreciate the music of all traditions and communities. The curriculum focuses on developing skills, knowledge and understanding in order to become confidence performers, composers and listeners.

Learning an Instrument

Whole Class

As part of our music curriculum, children will learn to play the glockenspiel following the Kapow scheme, alongside a range of untuned percussion instruments.

Individual/Small group Tuition

If your child is interested in having individual instrument tuition use the link below to register your interest in tuition through the Lincolnshire Music Service.

Performing

Our children take pride in singing and we join together to sing in our whole school collective worship and services at our local Church. We welcome the children to play their instrument in collective worship and feel it is brilliant opportunity to share their progress and success as well as provide an encouraging audience for the pupils to perform to.
