Independent Reading Books

To guide children to select a book they will be able to confidently read independently,

children complete a computer-adaptive assessment called Star Reading, which provides them with a numerical 'ideal' reading range known as a ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). A child's ZPD does not restrict the books they're able to choose from the library, but rather provides a guide of how likely they are to feel successful reading the book of their choice.

Upon finishing reading a book, children complete a short Accelerated Reader quiz on the book they've just read. The quizzes challenge their understanding of what they've read.
